Better BI blog moving to: http://betterbizintel.blogspot.com/
I’m moving the blog to http://betterbizintel.blogspot.com/ for one simple reason: I can embed analytics published to Tableau Public directly in the body of the posts.
I do most of my data analysis work with Tableau, and believe it’s one of the most important tools to come along since the invention of the original 4GLs.
It’s really, really handy to be able to provide Tableau analytics as examples of the things I think and write about. As of this writing WordPress doesn’t permit the JavaScript-based content that Tableau uses to provide external access to Tableau Public-published content. Or at least I haven’t been able to find any way to do it easily.
If and when WordPress provides this ability, or Tableau Public content changes into a form WordPress accepts I’ll revisit the decision.
Chris,
Many people will put an image of their viz in their WordPress blog, then clicking on the picture will take them to the viz on Tableau Public. It’s a pretty simple workaround.

Thanks, Andy. I’m inclined against this approach, if for no other reason than it removes the reader one step further away from the “real” thing I’m representing than embedding the viz.

I couldn’t agree more. I was simply suggesting it as a work around. I have one viz on my blog that won’t embed for some reason and it’s my most popular post. I often wonder how that one extra step to get to interactivity affects traffic.
